Misc

I don't know why the US state dept. insisted on Chalabi for a power position in Iraq. I do know that the few Iraqi bloggers out in the blogosphere are not happy with the man. There is a concern that they'll get Same Old S--- from Chalabi.

I hope not, or perhaps they'll be able to vote him out soon?? Iraqis have been through enough.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day

November 5, 1605

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

Despicable

This is truly disgusting. I will not vote for a democratic candidate again, ever.

" . . . we simply launch an independent investigation based on principled but vague notions regarding the use of intelligence."

hat tip to Instapundit or the Emperor or both. I'm so sickened by this, I can't remember.

Drugs

Drugs are bad for you. They say a human can live, see, think for up to 10 seconds after decapitation.

WARNING! - Gruesome link

New Kid on the Blog

& I do mean kid!. Or do I? Is it sincere, or is it satire?

I link, you decide.

Hat tip to Emperor Misha I.

You Go, Girls!!

"The girls came and started kicking him and punching him, so I wasn't going to stop them," neighbor Robert Lemons told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Tee hee hee.

Hat Tip via Instapundit. Thanks, Glenn.

Can't stop quizzin!

Amritas has a link to the Gender Genie!. I came up female. Whew!

Words: 516

(NOTE: The genie works best on texts of more than 500 words.)

Female Score: 1157
Male Score: 846

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: female!

OOPS

If you read this post of mine about the Abode of Amritas, you'll recall I said ". . . even if I don't understand it."

Well, I was right. I didn't understand it. Post has been updated.

Female Concealed Carry

Consarn it.

I've finally applied for CCW, but even if I get it, can I use it? I'm 5'3", female, flat-chested and a little on the pudgy side. I haven't found any way to carry that works, yet. I have a poochie (similar to smart carry and thunderwear) but it makes me look 5 months pregnant, and it isn't really that easy to draw out of. Also have a regular holster that can hook onto a belt or inside jeans, but I can't find a good place to put it. My bosoms aren't large enough to cause my shirt to flounce out enough to cover the gun.

Do I have to get a breast implant to make use of a CCW license?

The Case of the Disappearing Blogger

I blogrolled The Lemon. They haven't had a new article since. I blogrolled Kim Du Toit; he immediately decided to cut back to once a week.

What?!? What is this?!? Is it something I said?

I'm going to remove the blogroll altogether, if this keeps up.

this list will be added to and moved to the top periodically.

Graham, Bob - Senator
Anti-gun
Voted against rebuilding Iraq, for loans instead of grants

Update: He is retiring, so I won't get the satisfaction of voting against him. God, I hope they don't try to put Reno Killer Bitch up for his seat.

Davis, Jim - Representative
SPONSORED the House version of McCain-Feingold

Ya learn something new everyday

I kinda like Mike Miyake's blog, even if I don't understand it. I didn't know that:

Su is 'speed' and shi is 'eat' (and by extension, 'food'). This word isn't necessarily convertible into other non-Chinese East Asian languages: i.e., AFAIK, there is no Japanese sokushoku . . .

But according to his post on Sushi, it's true.

UPDATE: I'm wrong! Mr. Miyake was kind enough to send me an email with corrections:

MM: Sorry for the misunderstanding. The "sushi" in my post title referred to a
Mandarin word pronounced "soo-sher". This has nothing to do with the
Japanese word sushi ("soo-shee"), despite the identical romanization.

ME: Chinese Mandarin fast food sounds like Japanese raw fish??

MM: Yes, it's a total coincidence which I thought was cute. The characters for
the two words are completely different. I'll blog about this later this
week.

I think it's cute, too.

One more drink for Madfish Willie's Cyber Saloon

Evil Glenn's PETA Margarita

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups tequila - Jose Cuervo Gold for choice
1/2 cup Grand Marnier
2 large or 3 small Chihauhuas (remove tails & ears. Discard tails and set ears aside)
water and ice to fill blender
sugar to taste

Mix in a standard blender. Serve in margarita glasses, garnish with ears.

What IS it with these stupid quizzes?

uni
You are Form 3, Unicorn: The Innocent.

"And The Unicorn knew she wasn't meant to
go into the Dark Wood. Disregarding the advice
given to her by the spirits, Unicorn went
inside and bled silver blood.. For her
misdeed, the world knew evil."

Some examples of the Unicorn Form are Eve
(Christian) and Pandora (Greek).
The Unicorn is associated with the concept of
innocence, the number 3, and the element of
water.
Her sign is the twilight sun.

As a member of Form 3, you are a curious
individual. You are drawn to new things and
become fascinated with ideas you've never come
in contact with before. Some people may say
you are too nosey, but it's only because you
like getting to the bottom of things and
solving them. Unicorns are the best friends to
have because they are inquisitive.

Which Mythological Form Are You?

Ye gads, I think I'm becoming a Quizilla addict!

Hat tip to Jay Solo, who got it from The Wise Man.

Ordinary Drinks

The 1st worthwhile blog contest that I've seen is over at Madfish Willie's, Imperial Poisoner. I don't have anything exceptionally wild to offer, but the contest DOES say it should reflect the title of your blog. Anyway, here's what I like to drink:

Cool Galoot
Vodka
ice
iced tea
lemon
mint

Good stuff on a hot day! However, this one may be disqualified because it's hardly original. I've seen it called Ice Pick and Summer Hummer, only they didn't have the mint. I don't either half the time, whatever, it's good with or without.

The Groggy Galoot

Captain Morgan's spiced rum
Ginger Ale
ice, of course

It tastes much better than it sounds. Jean next door introduced me to this one, but it has no other name besides Capn Morgan & Ginger Ale.

Grandma's Cold Remedy

Whiskey
Hot tea
Honey
Lemon

mmmmm. It'll take care of that sore throat right quick! My grandmother was a GREAT woman! Used to irritate my mom, though, sometimes. I find this tastes better if you let the tea steep in whiskey at the bottom of the teapot while waiting for the water to boil.

I don't use measurements. I just splash some in and adjust if my throat catches on fire.

Required Reading for All Journalists, Reporters, Anchors and Communication Students

Yikes

Although I wouldn't really expect any better behavior from such people, it's still disconcerting to read this.

We are amused

by Modern Drunkard Magazine. Take the rat pack quiz and see which member of the rat pack you are! I came up Dean Martin.

& don't forget - you know you're in trouble if drunken pink elephants see you.

Crossing my fingers
Crossing my toes
Is it genuine good news?
Let's see how this goes

"We should protect all kinds of property ownership — and private ownership as well," China Central Television quoted President Hu Jintao as telling delegates.

"Public ownership is the main pillar of China's economy," he said in a separate speech, released in Chinese by the government. "But we have to develop other kinds of ownership as well."
